Synopsis by Sarah Ing

Part performer, part artist, Roger Ing's reputation is based on a flamboyant philosophy and dedication to entertainment. His story is profiled in Roger Ing's Utopia. Ensconced for much of his career in the New Utopia Café, Ing set up a haven of social and artistic awareness. The Canadian boldly experimented with both western and eastern painting styles, applying the facets he found intriguing. The result was a thoroughly original movement known as "Rogerism." This documentary features interviews with those that knew Ing well including Jack Severson, Dan Sali, and Art McKay, and gallery curators Helen Marzolf and Dan Ring.
