Synopsis by Mark Deming
Louisiana legend Alton "Rockin' Dopsie" Rubin was the self-described "Crown Prince of Zydeco," the Cajun blues style that grew in the bayous, and he was one of the few artists who could honestly compete with the great Clifton Chenier as a master of the accordion, the key zydeco instrument. Rockin' Dopsie and the Zydeco Twisters: Live at The Maple Leaf captures Rockin' Dopsie and his band in full force at a 1984 gig recorded at the Maple Leaf Bar in New Orleans. Songs include "Ay-Te Te Fee," "Keep a Knockin'," "The Louisiana Two Step," "Tous Demandaient Pour Toi," "I Got a Woman," and five others.
