Things have taken a horrible turn for the worse, but only a handful of people know about it. The Invid Flower of Life has not only been feeding on the protoculture matrix on the site of the SDF-1's ruins, it has been releasing spores -- a clear beacon for the Invid if they get much further. Nova Satori, Musica, and the 15th Squadron are the only people on Earth who are aware of how high the stakes have become, and Supreme Commander Leonard's final attack on the only people who could help them -- the Robotech Masters -- has gotten underway. The battle goes badly for both sides, as the Robotech Masters struggle to control their weakening populace and marshal what little protoculture reserves they have left. Earth's space forces inflict tremendous damage, but at a great cost. Suddenly, disaster strikes as bioroids burst through Earth's defenses, laying waste to cities as they make their ultimatum: Evacuate the planet or be destroyed.
