Robo Vampire has earned much notoriety in cult-movie fan circles for its eccentric combination of a robot cop, hopping vampires, and drug-war police action. Sadly, the film isn't as entertaining as it sounds. Robo Vampire was made by combining footage of an existing action film that would be a tough sell to English-speaking audiences on its own with new wraparound footage that adds the robot and vampire elements. The ineptitude of the resulting schizophrenic tale is amusing at first but soon becomes tiresome once the novelty wears off. Neither the original director nor the people who made the new footage had the energy or funky style to make their exploitative elements come alive on the screen. It's also worth noting that no vampiric robot ever appears in the film despite its title. As a result, Robo Vampire is a numbing experience. Even the trash-movie fanatics will want to think twice about watching it.
