Stage luminary Raymond Hitchcock made his motion picture debut in this charming allegorical comedy. John Carter-Carter (Hitchcock) is a great guy with an unfortunate drinking problem. It drives his fiancee, Marybelle (Flora Zabelle -- Mrs. Hitchcock in real life), to tears and her parents ultimately insist that she break off the engagement. Dejected, Carter goes home, where he finds Marybelle's little brother, Billie (Raymond Hackett). Billie asks Carter why his sister is crying and Carter blames it on a ring-tailed rhinoceros. As they discuss how to kill this rhino, they both fall asleep. Carter has a fanciful dream in which he is kidnapped by pirates and lands on a fairy island where he goes in pursuit of the rhinoceros which is making the princess weep. When he realizes that the rhino and alcohol are one in the same, he kills the beast by hitting it with a bottle. He wakes up to find himself surrounded by Marybelle and her parents. He resolves to stop drinking forever and reunites with his fiancee.
