The intent was to make a documentary to laugh. Ettore Scola - director, screenwriter, cartoonist, humorist, intellectual, militant - trying to use his key: that is, talking about serious things without being noticed, making them laugh. We wanted to tell our father only through the interviews that occurred through the course of his life, the songs of his films, and what he wanted to say 'live' without ever having to resort to interviews with others about him. And so the portrait - biographical, artistic and human - Ettore Scola takes shape before our eyes.
