This Eclipse one-reeler is set somewhere in France. When the young hero announces that he intends to marry the girl of his dreams, he is staunchly opposed by his crusty old father, who has already picked out a bride for the boy. The hero sticks to his guns, whereupon his father tosses him out of the house. Two years pass, during which time the young man, his wife, and their child are reduced to abject poverty. Things turn out happily in the end when the hero's cherubic child sparks a reconciliation with the hard-hearted old father.
