Synopsis by Mark Deming

Otis Redding was one of the most powerful and emotionally compelling vocalists in the history of rhythm and blues, who tragically died in 1967 before his biggest hit, (Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay, could be released. This video captures Otis on stage at his best, including spectacular footage of his appearance at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival (only months before his passing) and film from the 1966 Stax/Volt Tour of Europe.
