Synopsis by Janiss Garza
Although Maria Temosach (Jane Gail) is an honor student at the Eastern college where she is a student, she is never truly accepted because she is a Native American. So she goes back home, where her father is the Chief, and returns to the old ways. After repelling the advances of the leader of a band of rustlers (Edward F. Roseman), Maria saves the life of Morton Dean (Mahlon Hamilton), the son of a mine owner. They fall in love, and while he is back East attending to business, she has his child. Although Dora Wendell (June Elvidge) schemes to land Morton, he returns to Maria and they are married. It is worth noting that during the era of the silents -- and for quite a long while afterwards -- it was extremely rare in motion pictures for a white man to marry a Native American woman.
