The Caprini Massacre now two years behind him, Sharpe has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant and assembles a highly skilled squadron of space marines on a mission to destroy the underground Ma'har facility located deep beneath the icy surface of planet Mezzo. But their mission won't be an easy one, for if these hardened soldiers want to succeed they much first do battle with giant carnivorous snow worms, malevolent aliens, an underground race of cyborgs, and, ultimately, the Ma'hars themselves.
