Review by Hans J. Wollstein

If nothing else, this entry in Leo Maloney's Range Rider series proves that the burly B-Western star could play comedy as well as anybody. More a rural farce than a regular Western, Double Cinched also demonstrates that a good story perhaps deserves to be told more than once. The following year, Poverty Row producer Robert J. Horner released Shootin' Square, a Jack Perrin Western in which a prisoner (Bud Osborne again) escapes the law by masquerading as a parson. As far as can be determined, neither Maloney nor his co-writer, Ford I. Beebe, were credited.
