Synopsis by Jonathan Crow

R. Padmanabhan directs this fantasy adventure flick featuring two to Telugu cinema's most popular actress -- P. Bhanumathi and Anjali Devi. The film centers on Kalavathi (Bhanumathi), the beautiful, headstrong daughter of the king of Simhala who refuses to marry Sudhakar (A. Nageshwara Rao). That is until fairies descend from the heavens and transport the prince to Kalavathi's bedroom whereupon they fall in love. One of the fairies, named Chitra (Devi), becomes jealous of the mortals' bliss and spirits Sudhakar away to heaven, permitting him to visit only on weekends. If he tells Kalavathi of his celestial imprisonment, Chitra warns, his head will explode. When eventually Kalavathi becomes pregnant, the prince disappears completely, leading to ugly rumors of adultery in the royal court. When she leaves the palace, she is abducted by a band of savages, but escapes from their clutches when she dresses as a man. As another princess falls in love and marries the cross-dressing Kalavathi, Sudhakar is cast back to earth and turned to a stone statue.
