Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The Algerian Rai is a gritty study of degradation and redemption. The protagonist, Rachid (Abdelkader Tadjer) is a petty thief who has just been released from jail. Upon returning home, Rachid finds that his parents have broken up. His father sadly reveals that Rachid's mother was little more than a trollop, driving the boy into a deep alcohol-induced depression. With the help of his friends, Rachid gets his life in order. Director Said Ali Fetter doubled as screenwriter on Rai.
