Synopsis by Brian Whitener
Teruo Ishii's late 50s gangster flick serial is significant for featuring the first woman gangster in Japanese film. In Queen Bee, the first of the trilogy of Jowobachi films, two rival gangs face off as they battle for control of a lucrative dock and its import/export graft. Enter Reckless Mass, an undercover government agent, whose not so moral morals throw his undercover status into question. Reckless manages to get involved with both the female gang leader and the daughter of the rival gang boss. But neither of these relationships are strong enough to prevent him from exercising his duty by bringing the gangs down. An interesting contribution in the history of the gangster film.
