Synopsis by Clarke Fountain

In this docudrama, a (fictional) vastly wise woman comments on a series of (documentary) interviews with Brazilian women who have survived torture and imprisonment under a previous military regime, and puts the interviews in perspective. The filmmaker is ostensibly looking to see if the torture they endured has driven them mad; instead, they seem capable only of speaking postively about their infant children and are incapable of reflecting on their traumatic pasts. Most will admit to having participated in underground political activities, even terrorism. They do not shed much light on the long-term effects torture has had on their lives.
