Synopsis by Rebecca Flint Marx
Faith Crowell (Meg Tilly) is a starving artist who is commissioned to paint a mural for socialite Frances Griffiin (Ellen Burstyn). The subject of the mural is to be Frances' daughter, Cassandra, who died accidentally on the night of her coming-out ball. As Faith works on the mural, she begins to receive expensive gifts from her client, and she gradually comes to notice uncanny similarities between herself and Cassandra. Eventually, Frances invites Faith to move into her mansion, and strange and unnerving things start to happen.
