The New York-based Power Pilates company introduces a series of programs based on the Pilates method of "core conditioning" - the strengthening of the abdominals, back, and buttocks. Company founder Dr. Howard Sichel, a chiropractor who recognized the importance of this core strength in overall health and fitness, created easy-to-follow workouts for varying fitness levels. This program features an intermediate workout for those already familiar with basic Pilates moves. Increasingly challenging exercises build on the benefits learned in the beginner's program. Additional segments feature moves performed with the magic circle, the exercise ball, and the exercise band. The program includes demonstrations of the ideal way to perform the moves, as well as tips for modifying them according to special fitness needs.
