Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
This children's drama unveils an engaging story about the bonding between a wounded elephant and the boy who saves him. Yegorska (Sasha Komarov) and his mother live in Siberia where she runs their farm and does double duty as a gameskeeper. When a circus that was traveling in the area suffered a fire, their elephant Chandru got loose and wandered into the nearby forest. Even though the forest is a nature preserve, some poachers shoot at Chandru and leave the elephant wounded and angry. Yegorska happens across the unhappy creature and skillfully befriends him, brings him home, and installs him in the family shed to nurse him back to health. But Yegorska and his pachyderm are not out of the woods yet because the authorities have heard about the oversized "pet" and are obliged to act on that knowledge.
