Synopsis by Tracie Cooper
Written and directed by Alexei A. German, Jr., Posledniy Poezd (The Last Train) takes place in Russia during WWII and focuses on the oftentimes tragic human element of war. Much of the film centers around the brutal deaths of a handful of German and Russian soldiers who had been cut off from their armies. When recent German draftee Dr. Paul Fishbach (Pavel Romanov) is kicked out of the hospital to which he was assigned, he finds himself alone, lost, and half-frozen. Eventually, he is saved by an idealistic, if arguably insane, Russian soldier who drags him through the woods, where they come across a fleeing Russian family that would eventually come under the crossfire themselves.
