Synopsis by Mark Deming
Prior to his tragic death in a traffic accident in 2002 at the age of 47, Polo Montanez was one of Cuba's most popular vocalists, an artist whose intimate and unpretentious style, based in Cuban folk melodies, reflected the spirit of his countrymen. Polo Montanez: El Guajiro is a concert film which captures the late star on stage during a stop in France while "the small lizard" was touring Europe. Selections include "Donde Estaras", "Guitarra Mia", "Hay Un Run Run", "Suave Y Divina", "Amanesce El Nuevo Ano" and more.
