In the opener of chapter five, Dick Moreland (Richard Talmadge) and Dorothy Craig (Lucille Lund) are rescued from their sinking speedboat by Dorothy's father (Pat O'Malley), who brings them on board the Lottie Carson, the vessel that is to ferry Dick to the Caribbean treasure island. But despite the best efforts of Captain Carson (William Desmond), the ship is soon in the hands of Brasset's hirelings. In the ensuing fight, Dick once again loses the map to the treasure and is forced to pursue the thief up the rigging. Fighting to regain possession of the map, our hero is hurled into the sea.
