Synopsis by Hal Erickson

The popular screen team of Harold Lockwood and May Allison was transplanted to the Lake Ontario region in this cinemadaptation of Harold MacGrath's novel Pidgin Island. Lockwood was cast as John Cranford, a U.S. customs agent dedicated to stem the activities of a gang of opium smugglers. After successfully closing the case, Cranford takes a vacation on Pidgin Island, near Kingston, Ontario. Here he meets the beautiful Diana Wynne (May Allison), whose mysterious behavior both fascinates and attracts him. It turns out that Diana is herself a secret service agent, bent on trapping notorious pearl smuggler Michael Smeed (Doc Pomeroy Cannon). By now in love with Diana, Cranford voluntarily gives up rest-and-relaxation to help her bring Smeed to justice.
