Synopsis by Farida Ezzat
Jonathan Keijser’s directorial feature debut tells the true story of Syrian refugee Tareq Hadhad. After the bombing of their chocolate factory, Tareq and his family relocate to Nova Scotia, hoping to start their lives anew. Tareq is torn between relaunching his father’s chocolate business or pursuing his dream to become a doctor. Under familial pressure, he becomes manager of the new chocolate business, which becomes a booming success. Soon Tareq must decide if he can forge his own path while honoring family duty. The film premiered at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival.
