Synopsis by Mark Deming
Paul Weller, the former leader of the Jam and the Style Council, struck out on his own as a solo artist in the early '90s, and by the end of the decade he'd gone from a career slump that led many to declare him a spent force to firmly reclaiming his status as one of the most respected and influential figures in British rock. Paul Weller: Modern Classics on Film is a visual retrospective documenting Weller's impressive return to form in the '90s, including the 1994 concert film Live Wood, another performance film of five tunes from the Heavy Soul album, television appearances, electronic press kit material, and 21 music videos. Selections include "The Changing Man," "You Do Something to Me," "Brand New Street," "Sunflower," "Out of the Sinking," and many more.
