It is the end of the 20th century and new advancements in artificial intelligence have revolutionized the industrial world. The Labor, a humanoid robotic device, has become a mainstay employed in all forms of service and work. Unfortunately, the massive power harnessed within The Labor also makes it a useful weapon for terrorists. To combat this threat, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department has decided to fight fire with fire and launched Special Vehicles, Section Two, a force comprised of specially designed Patrol Labors, or Patlabors. This television series is a longer running retelling of the story told in the original Patlabor OVA.
