A former pilot-turned American Land Art specialist, James Turrell was fascinated by daylight and entered into a warm friendship with the Hopi Indians. Turrell is world renowned for his spectacular aerial images of Arizona's canyons, and has spent much of his life researching light. Over the course of his studies, Turrell also found his friendship with the Hopis blossoming into something truly special. In this film Turrell unveils his masterpiece -- a true celestial light observatory christened Roden Crater.
