Synopsis by Janiss Garza

In the small town of Owenton, the Smith (Bert Busby and Mary Grey) and the Brown (William Welsh and Anna Lehr) families have sons at the same time. As boys, Robert Smith, Jr. (Frank Goyette) flourishes because of his happy home life, while little Horace Brown (Matty Roubert), brought up by a strict, aggressive father, becomes a petty thief. Both boys have childhood crushes on the banker's daughter, Agnes Melton (Lois Alexander), and as they grow up, their affection blooms into a dual romance. As an adult, Robert Smith (Hobart Henley, who was also the film's director) runs his father's contracting business and comes into conflict with Horace (Gilbert Rooney) and his father. But Robert becomes a leader in Owenton and marries Agnes (Barbara Castleton), while Horace is left broke when his father dies.
