Vérité footage combines with diary-cam moments from students to chronicle a year at an alternative high school in Walla Walla, Wash., where the staff has adopted a new approach to disciplining students, many of whom come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Under the new paradigm, which eschews judgment and suspension in favor of understanding and treatment, fights have decreased by 75 percent and the graduation rate has also dramatically increased.
