This documentary by Indian-American filmmakers Abi Devan and Sudhi Rajagopal explores the lives of the Panihari, a group of women in India's arid state of Rajasthan, who struggle for independence by fulfilling the vital role of fetching water. Focusing on one Panihari named Paru, the film paints a vivid picture of the lives of these women, caught between the changes of a new world, and the obligations of an old one.
