Synopsis by Kathleen Wildasin

Panama: Exploring the Panama Canal is a 52-minute historical cruise through the Republic of Panama and its famous divide. Viewers will experience the hustle and bustle of Panama City and Colón and marvel at the picturesque countryside while getting a close-up look at the people and their culture. The building of the Panama Canal -- from its failed beginnings to its triumphant completion by the unrelenting efforts of 35,000 men -- is impressively chronicled. The program covers the canal's operation and how the locks are controlled from the best seat in the command center. A highlight of the film includes time-lapse footage of ships maneuvering the locks from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean.
