Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter
This educational video teaches young people the basics of painting with light, in the style perfected by the Impressionists. Talented artists and teachers present the fundamentals involved in mastering their own unique and often difficult techniques involved in using light as a tool in painting. The paper or canvas itself becomes an ally in the process of conveying a sense of light, as every water colorist knows. Students study the works of some of the great masters, such as Winslow Homer, Monet, Cezanne, and John Singer Sargeant. The students then try out for themselves the principles they have learned about painting with light.
