Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Without giving anything away, it can be noted that the key to The Page Mystery was the dual identity of the character portrayed by Arthur Ashley. Largely set in a remote hunting lodge, the plot concentrates on the efforts by the son of a wealthy British family to shoulder the blame for the misdeeds perpetrated by his "black sheep" elder brother. Eventually, the caddish sibling is shot and killed, presumably by one of three people sharing space with him in the aforementioned lodge. Two more deaths occur before this "locked-room" mystery is unlocked for the benefit of the audience. Cinematographer Arthur Edeson managed to invoke a great deal of sinister atmosphere in a very confined playing space.
