Synopsis by Augustine Chay
Epic conflict and chaos unfold in medieval Rajasthan when the ravenous Sultan Alauddin Khilji (Ranveer Singh) decides that he must possess Padmavati (Deepika Padukone), the legendarily beautiful queen of Chittor, at any cost. To defend his wife and his kingdom, Maharawal Ratan Singh (Shahid Kapoor) prepares the fortress of Chittorgarh for the brute force of the sultan’s army. This expensive Bollywood production was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and inspired by Indian Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi’s 1540 epic poem Padmavat.
