Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Canadian "actuality" filmmakers Holly Dale and Janis Cole are famed for bringing a feminist slant to their documentary efforts. More than that, the Dale-Cole team has brought into sharp focus the lives and hopes of society's fringies-people otherwise ignored or kicked aside by the "haves". P4W: Prison for Women takes us within the walls of Canada's only all-female federal maximum security prison. Taking no sides so far as the inmates' crimes are concerned, Dale and Cole nonetheless afford these women the opportunity to vent, and to fully articulate their dreams, shattered and otherwise. After enduring 75 minutes of P4W, some viewers may feel as trapped and claustrophobic as the women on screen.
