Synopsis by Nathan Southern

Director Lenka Hellstedt helmed this slice-of-life Finnish-language seriocomedy, which stars Amira Khalifa as Ida, a young and slightly melancholic woman. Her sadness stems from the realization that she's rapidly careening toward the age of thirty, yet remains stuck at home with her social activist mother, Kati (Marja Packalen). Prompted by a newfound male friend, Ville (Matti Ristinen), Ida opts to do something about her discontent by setting out for the metropolis of Berlin, to assert her own independence - finding a job and proving her own self-sufficiency. Then, at about the same time, Kati receives some horrible news - news of her own devastating illness - but deigns to tell Ida because she's afraid that it will interfere with the young woman's quest for happiness and independency.
