Synopsis by Alice Day

There are many reasons why some individuals eat more than they should, and in Overeating -- An American Obsession, several people talk about why they found food to be a source of comfort. Anger and depression usually appear at the top of the list, and food is used as a handy and inexpensive answer to some of life's challenges. Three authorities on weight control appear on the program to discuss ways to manage weight on a permanent basis. The growing national problem of childhood obesity is also brought up, as the easy availability of fatty, sugar-laden foods combines with sedentary behavior to produce overweight children.
