Synopsis by Alice Duncan
Dedicated residents of areas with beautiful natural waterways -- concerned about the harm being done to their beloved places by industrial pollution -- undertake the courageous task of monitoring America's waters and keeping corporations within their legal bounds. This program, produced by Outside Magazine, follows some of these groups and individuals as they monitor the waters, keep an eye out for signs of pollution, take lawbreakers to court, and devote their time and efforts to solving problems involved in keeping the water safe and clean. Some of the featured organizations include the Hudson Riverkeepers (the subject of another Outside program), which patrols along the Pacific Coast and Puget Sound in Washington. Other groups concerned with local problems, such as runoff from hog farms into North Carolina waters and industrial pollution in New Jersey, are also highlighted.
