Synopsis by Sally Barber

Our Solar System is a four-part series exploring the big bang theory of creation and the controversial question of whether the universe was born from a single massive explosion. Volume three of the series, The History of the Outer Planets, examines the giant Jupiter, the planet made of mostly hydrogen and helium which is in a constant state of storm. The lord of the rings, Saturn, is also examined. Other outer planets in the system include Uranus, which travels on its side, cold Neptune, and Pluto, the small planet on the fringe. Series companion volumes are The History of Occidental Astronomy, The Inner Planets, and Life on the Edge of the Milky Way.
