Our Future Generation is a 26-part series featuring young people from diverse backgrounds who share their hopes, dreams, and everyday concerns. Topics touch on a multitude of issues ranging from pregnancy to prayer in the classroom. The series is written by teens with the aim of helping young people to understand their commonality. Our Future Generation: Sickle Cell Disease addresses this inherited blood disease which affects people of all races and nationalities. Sufferers can experience pain, stroke, kidney damage, delayed growth, and other serious complications. This program introduces viewers to some young people who live with sickle cell disease and who talk frankly about the ways they cope. Also, meet the eight-year-old 1996 poster child for sickle cell who shares her experiences.
