Our Future Generation is a 26-part series featuring young people from diverse backgrounds who share their hopes, dreams, and everyday concerns. Topics touch on a multitude of issues ranging from pregnancy to prayer in the classroom. The series is written by teens with the aim of helping young people to understand their commonality. Our Future Generation: Beanie Mania explores the Beanie craze that encompassed the entire world. First introduce in 1993 by the Ty company, the small plush animals became one of the most sought after items in history. In 1997, Beanies were the hottest thing on Santa's list. Originally sold in gift shops for five dollars, Beanies were traded by collectors in 1998 for as much as 2,000 dollars each.
