Even though artist Paul Hallock (Denton Vane) swears that he loves Amanda (Ollie Walker), he forgets all about her when he meets her cousin Elizabeth (Lillian Walker). In spite of his fickle nature, Elizabeth secretly marries him, and -- predictibly -- he promptly goes off to the city and forgets about her. Elizabeth eventually finds true love in New York with Julian Gerard (Evart Overton). But Hallock finds her and proceeds to blackmail her. Amanda is still in love with Hallock and believes Elizabeth is continuing a romance with him. When Hallock is found dead with a bottle of poison by his side, Elizabeth is accused of his murder. She is put on trial, but Gerard makes a timely return from a trip abroad to give evidence that helps acquit her. Soon after, Amanda, who is dying in a hospital, admits to Elizabeth and Gerard that she poisoned Hallock. With Elizabeth's ordeal out of the way, she is finally able to wed the man she loves.
