A routine drama at best, Once a Doctor's saving grace is its brief running time. Jean Muir and Donald Woods were both fine performers but this time they are, literally, out to sea. The climactic rescue on a ship bound for Havana was rather obviously filmed in a studio tank, with miniatures merrily bobbing up and down in a storm created by the Warner special effects department.
