Synopsis by Hal Erickson

To American ears, On Our Selection may seem like the title of a musical. Accordingly, the film's title was changed to On Our Little Place for the benefit of non-Australian filmgoers. Based on a play by Steele Rudd, the film stars Bert Bailey as Rudd's alter ego, a small-time rancher who tries to make a go of his spread with the help of his large and loyal family. The film proved so popular that it spawned a series of "Rudd Family" films, the Aussie equivalent to the Hardy Family saga. Former newsreel editor Ken Hall, who was soon to become Australia's most prolific filmmakers, made his feature-film directorial debut with On Our Selection.
