Takashi Koike directs this unapologetically silly film about a futuristic world where human beings are controlled by invisible aliens, a nefarious group known as the "Earth Patrol." En route to a funeral, Komori (Koike) runs into his kindergarten classmate, the corpulent Ueda (Ryo Iwamatsu). While Komori never bothered to learn to read, Ueda has become a teacher of sorts who is crusading against an alleged alien spaceport to be built in an abandoned field. This film was paired with Kusa no Ue no Shigoto in the 1993 Pia Scholarship grant.
