Synopsis by Mark Deming
In California and Mexico, some of the most striking ocean regions, teeming with marine life, sit side by side next to blazing hot deserts and snow-covered mountains, making for a fascinating and strikingly beautiful land of profound contrasts. Ocean Oasis is a documentary (originally shot and exhibited in the high-definition IMAX film format) which visits Baja California and the Mexican Sea of Cortès, as we spy on whales, manta rays, elephant seals, migrating birds, and other creatures of the sea as they survive in an ocean bordered by a unforgiving climate.
