Synopsis by Mark Deming

In California and Mexico, some of the most striking ocean regions, teeming with marine life, sit side by side next to blazing hot deserts and snow-covered mountains, making for a fascinating and strikingly beautiful land of profound contrasts. Ocean Oasis is a documentary (originally shot and exhibited in the high-definition IMAX film format) which visits Baja California and the Mexican Sea of Cort├Ęs, as we spy on whales, manta rays, elephant seals, migrating birds, and other creatures of the sea as they survive in an ocean bordered by a unforgiving climate.
