Madda (Pismai Wilaisak) is the absolute ruler of her household and expresses her ambitions for worldly authority through her family. She persuades her husband to resign from his government job in order to run for office and badgers her son to study medicine and her daughter to study French, regardless of their own wishes. Before long, every one of them has abandoned her except her loving old mother who refuses to leave her, even in the face of her heated and insulting demand that she do so.
