Synopsis by Robert Firsching

Ion Daifas directed and adapted this version of the successful Greek stage play by Nikos Tsiforos and Polyvios Vassiliadis. The story concerns a wealthy businessman named Patroklos (Mimis Fotopoulos) who rose from poverty and now believes that money really does buy happiness. In fact, he is so sure of this that when it comes to finding a spouse for his pretty daughter Mary (Miranda Kounelaki), he pays off unsuitable candidates to leave her alone. Patroklos wants Mary to wed Yerassimos (Vassilis Andreopoulos), who has money of his own, but she has fallen for a new employess of Patroklos's company, Miltos (Errikos Briolas). The usual complications ensue, and it should hardly come as a surprise that Yerassimos is exposed as an unfaithful, gold-digging jerk and Miltos turns out to be honest, pure of heart, and Mary's eventual husband. Pantelis Zervos co-stars with Dina Trianti, and familiar Greek supporting players Jolly Garbi, Yiannis Fermis, and Lavrentis Dianellos round out the cast.
