Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The Portuguese O Barao de Altamira stars Artur Semedo as an aging aristocrat with a Don Quixote complex. When the aristocrat discovers that a castle, appropriated from Portugal hundreds of years earlier, has been reconstructed in Spain, his gorge rises. He organizes his own "army" of misfits and foul-ups to reclaim the castle. To sneak into Spain without arousing suspicions, he arranges a marriage between his daughter and the son of a Spanish mayor. In addition to playing the leading role, Artur Semedo also wrote and directed this satiric study of blindsided patriotism.
