Synopsis by Robert Firsching
Prolific Greek filmmaker Yiannis Dalianidis wrote and directed this adaptation of Dimitris Psathas's play The Love Cafe in the Country. It's the story of Alekos (Dinos Eliopoulos), a young man with a great number of problems. He's in love with Voula (Maria Voulgari) and has dated her for quite some time, but is unable to marry her both because he's financially beholden to his tyrannical father (Pantelis Zervos) and because he hasn't married off his sister (Zoe Laskari) first as custom requires. Voula's brother threatens to kill Alekos if he doesn't set a wedding date soon, and while visiting a country cafe for couples he meets a fellow named Antonis (Stefanos Stratigos) who, when pressed for a solution, advises Alekos to get engaged in order to stave off Voula's brother. The situation has a happy ending, as Antonis actually shows up at his house and asks for the hand of Alekos's sister, satisfying the custom and freeing him to marry Voula. Jolly Garbi and Kostas Papachristos star.
