Synopsis by Janiss Garza

William Nigh does triple duty in this silent film; he wrote, directed, and starred in it. "Buttsy" Gallagher leads a miserable life in the slums, and one sad evening, he climbs onto the balcony window of Judge Winters (Roy Applegate) so he can watch a party. He falls asleep just as a pair of burglars break in and rob the house. A butler is murdered, and in the confusion, Gallagher is thought to be the killer. The only two people who know the truth are Peggy Winters (Marguerite Snow) and her lover, who were having a secret assignation during the burglary. Gallagher doesn't care that he is convicted of the crime, it has made him a hero amongst his fellows in the slum. But before he can be executed, Peggy and her lover come forth and tell the truth. Still, Gallagher says he would rather die than go back where he came from. He doesn't die, of course, but through a series of events, he becomes a real hero when he saves Judge Winters from gangsters who are trying to force a crooked deal through the city council.
